A Holiday In Turkey - Apollos Temple

A Holiday In Turkey

The apartment is within easy walking distance of the beach, old town and many other services but you probably won't want to walk all the time. On those occasions you can easily catch a Dolmus, the local minibus service. These operate every few minutes from early morning to 11:00pm and can be flagged down anywhere along the road. The bus will stop for you if there is space. If there is no space don't worry, another will be along in 5 minutes and often less.

A very short walk away you can catch the Side-Manavgat Dolmus service. If you take the Dolmus into Manavgat you can change onto other buses for trips to Antalya and Alanya amongst others.

In Side and along the beach there are plenty of tour agents, selling trips to many places both nearby and a little farther. You can take a day trip to Manavgat and the falls, the amphitheatre at Aspendos or Alanya. If you fancy going further you can spend a night in Pamukkale and visit the spectacular hot springs.

Alternatively, take a 2-3 day trip to Cappadocia, a magical area of fairy chimneys & underground cities, which played an important role in the development of Christianity and was criss-crossed by the silk and spice routes. A dawn hot air balloon trip is highly recommended.

If you have missed the last bus back from Side and don't want to walk, take a yellow taxi. There are plenty of taxi stands around the town, just make sure you negotiate the fare before the journey.

A Holiday In Turkey - Toros Mountains Don't forget to visit the Saturday market in Side, just 10 minutes walk from the apartment. Here you can buy your fruit & veg, lace, clothes, Turkish Delight or simply wander around taking in the sights and the smell of fresh spices. A holiday in Turkey is not complete without doing some haggling so don't be afraid to try your bargaining skills in the market.A Holiday in Turkey - holiday apartment Side Turkey
